Sarah Susanka on branding a career: from "Not So Big House" to "Not So Big Life"
Sarah Susanka, author and cultural innovator, is going to share lessons every author and marketer will want to hear on the next Guerrilla Marketing Association call hosted by Roger C. Parker.
In the extremely competitive field of residential architecture--and a relatively short time--Sarah Susanka's books have established her as the "voice of intelligent home design," a brand that she has built upon with her latest--and 7th--book, The Not So Big Life: Making Room for What Really Matters which addresses how we live.
Her books focus on a single, compelling, ""not so big," idea: that most homes--like most lives--are too big, too cluttered, and too unplanned--to be comfortable and satisfying.
Instead of "MacMansions," what's called for is smaller homes which better suit the owner's needs. The goal is not to "save money," but to enjoy better-designed, more comfortable, environments built around universal principles. Her mantra is "better," not "bigger."
Sarah's first books were Creating the Not So Big House: Insights and Ideas for the New American Home, followed by The Not So Big House: A Blueprint for the Way We Really Live. Later volumes carry the "not so big" idea into examinations of residential interior and exterior details.
My personal enthusiasm for Sarah's message is shared by:
- Oprah Winfrey
- Charlie Rose
- Fast Company, "Fast 50" innovator
- Newsweek "Top Newsmaker"
- U.S. News & World Report "Innovator in American culture"
On this call, you'll learn about, and ask Sarah questions about, topics like:
- How can we tell when our life is "too big?"
- What are some of the principles we should strive for in our lives?
- What can architecture teach us about "designing" a more satisfying life?
- How do we know when we're "there?"
- What have the last 7 years been like for you?
- What have you learned about success during the last 7 years?
- Do you have any suggestions for authors or marketers getting started?
Be sure to bring your questions about home planning, marketing, or writing to this important call! Learn more about Sarah at http://sarahsusanka.com and http:notsobiglife.com.
